This document applies to the following HP Deskjet F300 series products:

• HP Deskjet F310, F325, F335, and F340


• HP Deskjet F350, F370, F378, F380, F385, F388, F390, and F394

Introduction

Clean the glass and lid backing to remove surface dust and ensure that copies and scans remain clear.

Cleaning the product

Step one: Clean the exterior

Use a soft cloth or slightly moistened sponge to wipe dust, smudges, and stains off the case. The interior of the unit does not require cleaning. Keep fluids away from the control panel and the interior of the unit.

CAUTION:

To avoid damage to the exterior of the unit, do not use alcohol or alcohol-based cleaning products.

Step two: Clean the glass

1. Press the On ( ) button to turn off the unit.


2. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the unit.


3. Raise the lid.


4. Clean the glass with a soft cloth or sponge slightly moistened with a non-abrasive glass cleaner.
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   

   CAUTION:

   Do not use abrasives, acetone, benzene, or carbon tetrachloride on the glass because they can damage it. Do not place or spray liquid directly on the glass. The liquid might seep under the glass and damage the device.

   
   


5. Dry the glass with a chamois or cellulose sponge to prevent spotting.


6. Connect the power cord to the back of the unit.


7. Press the On ( ) button to turn on the unit.

Step three: Clean the lid backing

1. Press the On ( ) button to turn off the unit.


2. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the unit.


3. Raise the lid.


4. Clean the white document backing with a soft cloth or sponge slightly moistened with a mild soap and warm water.
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   

   NOTE:

   Wash the backing gently to loosen debris. Do not scrub the backing.

   
   


5. Dry the backing with a chamois or soft cloth.
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   

   CAUTION:

   Do not use paper-based wipes because they might scratch the backing.

   
   


6. If further cleaning is needed, repeat the previous steps using isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol and then wipe the backing thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any residual alcohol.
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   

   CAUTION:

   Be careful not to spill alcohol on the glass or exterior of the unit because it might damage the device.

   
   


7. Connect the power cord to the back of the unit.


8. Press the On ( ) button to turn on the unit.

* Turn the printer off
* Hold down the CANCEL JOB and SELECT keys and turn the printer on, then wait until the display goes blank and the three LED’s come on
* Press the right side of the MENU key, then press the SELECT key
* You will enter SERVICE MODE after the normal test completes
* Press the ITEM key until the FUSER MAINTENANCE COUNT appears
* Press VALUE +/- to change to zero

Reset the maintenance count on an HP Laserjet 4200, 4300, 9000 4250, 4350, and 2400

* Turn the Printer on.
* Press and hold down the checkmark (Select) button while the memory is counting. The memory starts counting at 000MB immediately after you turn the power on. (Note: on laserjets 4200, 4300, 9000 you can hold down the checkmark button as you turn the power on, then wait for the three LEDs to illuminate. On the laserjets 4250, 4350, and 2400 series you need to wait until youturn the power on and the memory starts counting before you hold the checkmark button.)
* Continue to hold down the checkmark (Select) button until all three LEDs are illuminated.
* Release the checkmark (Select) button.
* Press the up arrow (Navigation) button until the message New Maintenance Kit appears on the control panel display.
* Press the checkmark button once.
* A message New Maintenance will appear in the control panel display and the printer will reset.

Reset Methods for HP Printers 8000, 8100, 8150

* Press the MENU button until the display reads CONFIGURATION MENU
* Press the ITEM button until the display reads SERVICE MESSAGE = ON/OFF
* Select OFF*
* Press SELECT to save
* Turn printer off
* Hold the VALUE MINUS and ITEM MINUS buttons while turning the printer back on Hold buttons down until
* display reads RESET MAINT/COUNTand then release both buttons
